With Heart and Soul
heading into the beach music market, Mark found himself in a perfect
position to step into Carolina Beach Music. Mark, along with Terry Nash and
JK Loftin, were nominated and were winners of The Carolina Beach Music
Award for Best New Artist in the year 2000. They recorded such songs as
The Way You
Love Me,
Shaggin With Your Baby,
and
Dixie Moon.
Mark was nominated for Male Vocalist in 2003 just before his break from the
band.
Mark was
nominated for Male Vocalist in 2007 and winner of Smoothie of the
Year for 2005 and 2006. Compilation albums Mark has recorded on include
All Aboard 4 in 2004 with
Dixie Moon,
Totally Beach for Kids, a
benefit CD for "Victory Junction Gang" in 2005, Soul Street Cafe with
Doesn't Get Any
Better,
and Now and Then from
Judy's House of Oldies with
Head Over Heels In Love
in 2007.
Mark recorded his first
solo album
Fast and Free in
August of 2007. This album includes two original songs written by Mark
himself. The album was recorded at The Loft Studios in Ocean Isle Beach, NC
with Nashville, TN session players Phil Naish, Tom Henby, and Rick Murray.
Guest musicians included Albert Rogers and Glen Tippett of the Coastline
Band, Terry Nash of the Craig Woolard Band and Tony Mallard, a endorsee of
Premier Drums and Sabian Cymbals.
Mark wishes to continue to be blessed by music and the family and friends
that it has brought to him, including his wife, Mandy. His true desire is to
give it his best and give back with the love and passion for the notes.
